Design:
This antique fan is at least 80 years old. It is printed with
名古屋水野謹製
along one strut and it
seems to have been a comemorative fan made by a shop in Nagoya called “Mizuno”.
This type of fan was commonly used to write a personal message and then presented to someone going off to war, however pre-war writing nearly impossible for modern Japanese people to
decipher. The design is of a man emgracing a woman who is concealing a sward. It comes in its original
Kiri (paulownia) wood box.

measures 16

or 42cm from tip to tip when open and is 10” or about 26cm long when closed.
Condition:
This fan is an antique between 80- 100 years old and has minor edge scuffs, bends, tears and
a patina form storage over time

Note that due to reduced flights, JAPAN POST has suspended Air Parcel service to the USA, Australia and a few other countries (Europe is not effected). It is not known how long this will last but in the meantime, we are using JAPAN POST SURFACE mail which has tracking and insurance but can take about 60 days to the USA.
Alternatively, for an additional charge, YAMATO INTERNATIONAL offers extremely fast door to door service for a flat-rate for their various size boxes. The smallest “60cm” box is to most countries, can hold up to two kg and measures 27 X 19 X 19cm and arrives in about a week.
