    Description
Offered today is a BEAUTIFUL antique circa 1880s Victorian wedding bracelet in 14k yellow gold. This bracelet has AMAZING detail--please enlarge the photos to note the deeply hand-engraved designs above and below the white champleve' and black taille d'epargne enameling, and all around the outer portion of the buckle.  The design in the white enameling is so intricate, with alternating circles of gold and crosses with tiny black dots decorating them--a truly talented goldsmith well versed in enamel work, created this bracelet.  There is a tiny bit of missing enamel on the center buckle (see photo) which could be easily touched up.  No other missing enamel anywhere else.
Wedding bracelets were quite the tradition back in the 1800s, and they would be worn in pairs.  Often a gift of a wedding bracelet would be presented to the bride-to-be by her fiance' when they became engaged, and the matching bracelet would be given and worn by the bride on the day of their wedding.  This was most likely the "engagement gift" if we want to use our imaginations.  Note the beautiful inscription "William to Mary" on the inside.
This is a hinged bangle/cuff bracelet, with the hinge and clasp in fine working order, and there's a safety chain as well.  The bracelet measures 3/8" wide and 2 1/8" across the inside of the oval.  It will fit UP TO a 6 1/2" wrist.  I have a 6.5" wrist and it just fits me (snugly) in the photos.  It tests positive for at least 14k gold, might be 15k.  It weighs 15.2 grams and is in excellent vintage condition especially considering that it's well over 100 years old!
