Kralik Art Nouveau Ruby Iridescent Glass Inkwell, Bronze Lid, c.1900

This listing is for a gorgeous example of Kralik Art Nouveau glass inkwell in a rich ruby colored iridescent glass with unusual swirls and bubble design, c. 1900. Although unsigned and generally attributed to Loetz, these inkwells were made by the Kralik factory in Austria in the early 1900's. The disc shaped inkwell
has beautiful cranberry-ruby color with iridescent finish and raised swirls and circles in the unusual design. The inkwell's top/lid is made of bronze and is marked "DEP 20485, DRGM 168180" inside near the hinge. The lid has an incised stylized leaf design with good patina. Glass inkwell insert is present.
Measures 2" high, 5 1/4" in diameter with a top diameter of 1 7/8". Weighs 12 ounces.
The glass inkwell, bronze top and clear glass insert are all in excellent Estate condition with no noted damage. The hinge on the inside of the lid has slight looseness and may have had an old repair. It looks good and clean in this area, however, there is a solder attaching the lid on the inside of the hinge to the collar of the base which may indicate a professional repair being made to the hinge. This is not readily noticed but is mentioned for accuracy. There is also some noted wear to the top of the collar attached to the glass base.
