Vintage Japanese Performing Art Presentation Folding Fan With Ship Kamon: Jan18U
Vintage Japanese “sensu" Fan from Kyoto...
This lovely “sensu" fan was made by one of Kyoto’s renown fan makers.
The struts are natural lacquered
bamboo with the musician’s name:
藤舎 秀蓬
on the one side and a kamon of a ship and a pauwlonia kamon on the antiqued, silver side.
This is fan was probably presented to someone by an artist in a traditional musical performing arts group. It is finely made and is in perfect, apparently unused, near-perfect condition.
Made in Kyoto
It measures a about 14” or 37cm across when open and is about 8" or 21cm long. This is a unique item and would be lovely as a display. See photos for other details - they show the front, back and partially open view of the fan…
Note:
This is one of a huge lot of ‘vintage' Japanese items that we have acquired. Many were stock from a shop in Kyoto that sold kimono accessories… Most were produced in the 1980’s but some are newer. Some are unused, like new or have stains or other damage so examine the photos and read the description carefully before purchasing to determine the exact condition of this particular item and it’s value to you.

Note that due to reduced flights, JAPAN POST has suspended Air Parcel service to the USA, Australia and a few other countries (Europe is not effected). It is not known how long this will last but in the meantime, we are using JAPAN POST SURFACE mail which has tracking and insurance but can take about 60 days to the USA.
Alternatively, for an additional charge, YAMATO INTERNATIONAL offers extremely fast door to door service for a flat-rate for their various size boxes. The smallest “60cm” box is to most countries, can hold up to two kg and measures 27 X 19 X 19cm and arrives in about a week.
